After a hard fought battle over ten years, the Dysart Woods Campaign has come to an end. But even as we lament the decision by the Court of Appeals to uphold mining under and adjacent to Dysart Woods, we must not allow the decision to overshadow the major successes of the campaign: longwall mining was prevented from going directly under the ancient forest of Dysart Woods (longwall mining is the most damaging).
